Learn how to create and prepare an AWS S3 bucket for use with the wp2print e-commerce system, including CORS policy configuration and public access settings.
Video Transcript
In this video, we're going to see how to create a bucket in AWS S3 and prepare it for use with wp2print.
The very first step is actually to copy what is labeled here as the CORS policy text, the CORS policy text.
We're just going to copy it here.
We're going to use that later on in the process.
Now we're going to switch over to the AWS Management Console.
We're going to click on the S3 service.
And then we're going to click on the button to create a new bucket.
Now here, Amazon S3 allows you to use almost any bucket name that you would like.
It has to be unique, though, so you can't use a buck...
you can't have two buckets with the same name.
Here we're just going to use the name mysite-uploads.
Obviously, instead of mysite, you would use whatever...
you know, something related to your company name or your website's name.
Second, AWS would like you to choose the region.
You can choose whatever region that you see listed here that is closest to your location.
We recommend that you do not choose the North Virginia region.
There's...
it's a fairly complicated explanation as to why, but we recommend that you not choose this one.
Here I'm just going to choose the US Ohio region.
I'm going to scroll down further.
Now here is a checkbox that by default is checked that prevents any object in your bucket from ever being made public.
We recommend that you disable this.
Disabling it does not mean that everything will be public.
It means simply that you have the right to make something public if you choose to.
So if I...
I've disabled that checkbox.
When that checkbox is disabled, Amazon will ask you to acknowledge that you're allowing public access to items in your bucket.
So here we're also checking this box.
And then down at the bottom of the page, we're going to hit this button, 'Create bucket'.
Amazon has now created that bucket.
We're going to scroll down to that bucket.
Here it is, mysite-uploads.
And then we're going to click on this 'Permissions' tab.
Okay, we're going to scroll down to the area labeled 'CORS' (C-O-R-S).
As you can see it here, we're going to edit that CORS area.
And here we're simply going to paste that text that we created earlier.
Here we've pasted it, and we save the changes.
Okay, the bucket is now created, and the bucket itself is prepared for use with wp2print.
