Learn how to use the outbound shipment tracking feature for pack and ship operations to document the condition of high-value shipments with photos, protecting your business against carrier disputes.
Video Transcript
In this video, we're going to see the outbound shipment tracking feature built for pack and ship operations.
You would use this function when you're sending an outbound shipment with a high value.
This might be a piece of art, or an object sent from the auction house or something of this nature.
The idea behind this feature is to allow you to document the state of the packaging of each box in a shipment, prior to it being delivered to the carrier.
After you have sent a shipment, if there is ever a dispute between you and the carrier about the state of the packages prior to delivery to the carrier, you will have easy access to photographic proof that you can send back to the carrier and their insurance company, proving that indeed the items were very well packaged.
To use this feature, we come to the shipment tracking menu item in the left side and we click on send shipment.
In the send shipment page, we can select the customer on whose behalf we are sending the shipment.
If the customer does not yet have an account, you can create an account here.
You can type in one or more tracking numbers here as well.
You're also able to indicate the box count.
And then very importantly, you can either capture new photos right now with a mobile device, or select a set of photos that you have taken on a device prior to launching the send shipment process and you can simply select those images right here.
It only takes a few seconds for you to register all this data, including the images you have captured.
Our system has registered this shipment and you can see that there is a nice clear record including the date, the customer tracking numbers, and all the images that you have uploaded.
In the case that there is ever a dispute between you and the carrier, you can easily access these photos.
You don't have to hunt through emails or anything like that.
They're all stored in a database and they will be stored in that database for as long as you would like.
