With multi-store systems, plugins are not managed at the individual site level.
Instead, they're managed at the network level.
To manage plugins, visit 'My Sites', then 'Network Admin', then 'Plugins'.
And here you will see the plugins that are available or that have been installed across the entire network.
Not every plugin is active on every site in the network, but here are all of the plugins.
And to upgrade a plugin, you simply search for this 'Update Now' button, just as you do with a normal non-network site.
Click the 'Update Now' button and the plugin will be updated, and that update is active, essentially, for all the other sites in the network.
