In this video we'll look at the FotoVender e-commerce system in combination with the FotoVender editor.
For this demonstration we'll be using an ordinary photographic product, that is to say a product with no frame and no edge, like a canvas might have an edge.
This is a variable size product, which is to say that the customer can adjust the dimensions freely, can choose his own dimensions.
Based on the dimensions selected our system is calculating the number of square feet or square inches in the product and applying a per square foot price.
That's how the price here is calculated.
If the customer is happy with their price they can go on to the next step.
In this step the system is prompting the customer to select the image that they want printed on the photo.
The customer can either select the file manually or as we're going to do here we're going to do a drag and drop.
Both function in the exact same way.
And this is going to launch the FotoVender editor.
Now the customer selected dimensions 20 inches in width and 15 inches in height.
Up here on the ruler we can see that the zero point is in the middle and there's 10 inches to the left and 10 inches to the right, showing that these are the correct dimensions.
One of the things that the customer can do in the FotoVender editor is change the dimensions.
If they decide they don't want 20 inches across but they want only 18, they can do that.
The system actually has recalculated the price for the new dimensions and of course it has resized the product up here.
Now you can see it's 9 inches to the left and 9 inches to the right for the 18 total 18-inch width.
The main purpose of the FotoVender editor is to allow the customer to adjust the zoom level and the cropping of the photo.
Up here at the top you can see that the system is displaying the effective DPI at the current zoom level.
As the customer zooms in the effective DPI will go down.
And with the FotoVender editor you can set some threshold levels that will warn the customer and then prevent the customer from continuing further if the customer zooms in too far.
So as we're zooming in a little further you can see that we have passed the threshold of 200 DPI and the system is warning the customer that the print results may not be perfect.
If we go even further below 150 the system is actually preventing the customer from hitting this button approve and preventing the customer from making a serious mistake of selecting or zooming in too far so that the print will be poor quality.
Once the customer selects the zoom level that they like they can then adjust they can drag and drop and adjust essentially the framing of the image.
Once the customer has adjusted the zoom and the framing in the way they want and the size and of course they see the most recent price then the customer will hit this button approve.
The FotoVender editor is making a new image applying the crop and zoom selected by the customer.
Once the new image is created the customer is now in their cart.
They can see a preview image.
This was made by the FotoVender editor at the zoom and crop level that the customer selected.
And then the customer can proceed through the checkout process.
We'll go very quickly through the checkout process here.
Okay from the customer side the order is complete and of course the customer will receive some confirmation emails from the FotoVender system.
Here we are now in the administrative pages.
This is the page that displays the orders.
And here we can see this most recently placed order.
The important thing to note about the administrative pages here is that you as the administrator can recuperate two different images.
If you click on this link you will receive the edited image, which is to say the image with the zoom and the cropping adjusted by the customer.
If you click here if for any reason you cannot use the edited image produced by the FotoVender editor you can always download the original and use that as the basis for your printing.
