In this video, we're showcasing wp2print's PDF preflight system.
This nifty tool checks PDF files your customers upload for common problems and notifies the customer if any issues are detected.
In this example, we're looking at a product page for a leaflet.
Note that we've selected the size as 8.5 by 11 inches.
Once we have selected the attributes, we upload our artwork file.
Once the artwork file is uploaded, wp2print automatically begins the preflight analysis.
The preflight system checks each uploaded file for: small fonts, missing fonts, low-resolution images, and dimensions match, which is confirming that the dimensions of the uploaded file match the product specifications.
As wp2print runs through each check, it displays the results to the customer in this popup window.
In this case, our file passed the checks for small fonts and missing fonts.
The file also passed the test for dimensions match.
In this demonstration, we chose a size of 8.5 by 11 inches.
The system has measured the dimensions of the uploaded file and confirmed it is 8.5 by 11 inches.
However, this file has failed the check for low-resolution images.
Since there was at least one failure, the system displays a red X mark next to the file name.
The system also displays this text in red towards the bottom of the popup window.
The preflight system essentially tells the customer: 'Dear customer, there's a problem with this file that is so serious that we cannot print it as is.' As an administrator, you can configure wp2print to handle preflight failures in two ways: You can either allow the customer to continue despite the preflight failure or you can prevent the customer from completing the order with the problematic file.
For this demonstration, we've configured wp2print to allow the customer to continue despite the failure.
Therefore, the 'Continue' button is visible.
When the customer clicks the button 'Continue,' the product is placed into the cart in the normal way.
The key feature of wp2print's preflight system is its ability to automatically test uploaded files for common problems.
When a problem is detected, wp2print signals the problem to the customer and gives the customer the option to cancel the order.
This helps reduce the number of orders with problematic artwork files and saves you time fixing these issues.
