In this video, we're going to be taking a look at creating new attributes.
On the administration panel, hover over the Products tab on the left and click Attributes.
Here we can add new attributes.
In this example, we'll say that we want to create a new attribute called Rounded Corners.
You can leave the slug empty.
Next, we can tell the system that this is a text attribute.
Ignore the rest for now and click on Add Attribute.
We have successfully created our new attribute, as you can see here if we scroll down a bit.
Next, we'll add some items inside of our new attribute.
Let's add one that says no rounded corners, or none.
Click on Add New Rounded Corners and it will add the item to the list.
We'll also add one that is 1/4 inch rounded corners.
At this point, we've created an attribute called Rounded Corners and we've also added two items inside of it.
There are two final things we might need to do.
Firstly, we'll need to let the system know what type of attribute this is.
In general, the attributes you add are going to be finishing attributes.
As you can see, the attribute Rounded Corners appears in all the types of attributes, but we need to check the type appropriate for Rounded Corners, which is Finishing Attributes.
This means that we'll be able to see the attribute in the Finishing Options and Finishing Price Matrices in the product window.
Secondly, we'll want to tell the system where Rounded Corners should appear in the sort order.
Here, I'm going to put the number 10, so it will appear at the bottom of the list.
Finish by clicking Save to apply the changes.
So now we can see that Rounded Corners is down here, and it is sorted in the 10th place of the attribute list.
If we want, we can start to edit the sort order of the items inside the attribute that we've just created.
So here, we can switch 1/4 inch to be at the top and vice versa.
But I will just leave it as it is.
Finally, just as an example, we can add this new attribute to a product that already exists.
Choose a product to add the attribute to.
At the moment, it doesn't have any sort of attributes added, so we can add some finishing attributes.
Click on Add New Finishing Price Matrix.
At the bottom, we can see Rounded Corners, and we can give both these boxes a check.
In quantities, let's add whatever we want, like so.
Finish by clicking Add.
And now, the Rounded Corners finishing attribute is configured.
