Create Iam User Tutorial & Guide

Step-by-step guide on creating an AWS IAM user, generating security credentials, and configuring inline policies for S3 access.

Video Transcript

In this video, we're going to look at creating and configuring a user in the Amazon Web Services.

First thing you want to do is click on Identity and Access Management.

And then click on Users.

Then Create New Users.

And then you want to type in the name of the user.

So in this video, we're going to call it printscience-upload-user.

And you also want to make sure that that box is checked to generate an access key for each user.

And then click Create.

Then click on Show User Security Credentials.

These include the Access Key ID and the Secret Access Key.

And then open a text editor and copy those credentials into the text editor.

And you want to save that information and then also click on Download Credentials.

And then click Close.

Now click on the name of your user.

And you're going to want to find the text that's above this video and copy it.

Then paste it into a text editor and put in the name of your bucket.

So we're going to edit this twice and we're going to put in, for this video, printscience-uploads.

Now we're going to copy all of that text.

Click on Inline Policies.

Custom Policy.

Select.

Put in the name of your policy.

We're going to call it printscience-policy.

And then paste the text.

Then Validate Policy and Apply it.

And now we've successfully created and edited user policies within the Amazon Web Services.

We hope this video was helpful.
